The Nordic Country Competition is an exchange between the Nordic agricultural universities. The first Nordic Championship was held in 1947 between Sweden and Norway at Ultuna. Today, 79 years later, it has developed into an event where around 300 students from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark gather each year to participate in sports together over four days. Every four years, each country hosts its own championship. From September 18–21, 2026, we will travel to Finland for the 79th championship in history.

For Minions – “Join Us” at the Competition

After building a sense of community with your new class during the freshmen weeks, the Nordic Country Competition offers a great opportunity to meet older students from the rest of SLU, as well as from neighboring countries. A certain number of spots on the team are reserved specifically for minions. Registration takes place during the Country Competion Pub after the “Battle at Ultuna” on Wednesday, September 2, during the welcome weeks. Spots are limited, so make sure to arrive on time to secure your place and “join the team.”

Why Join the Team?

There are many reasons to “join us” in 2026. The Nordic Championship is a unique opportunity for students to create international contacts within the green industries in the Nordic countries for future careers. The sports offered are highly varied, ranging from football, floorball, and volleyball, to shooting, athletics, and horse riding. In other words, there is something for everyone. Participants also get to take part in several unique evening activities, including themed parties, pubs, and the grand banquet that concludes the championship.

Training Sessions

On Wednesdays from 19:00–20:30, Nordic Championship training takes place at Syltahallen. Everyone is welcome, whether previous championship participants, sports enthusiasts, or beginners. Training information and the current sport can be found in the Facebook group Nordisk Landskamp ULTUNA.
