Graduation is fast approaching, and even though May may seem far away, we all know that spring flies by faster than expected. Of course, graduation should be celebrated with a ceremony and a ball, so here are some important dates to mark in your calendar. A requirement is that you, as a graduating student, are a student union member.
Invited participants should contact the Chair of Ultuna Student Union, Esbjörn EXCELSIOR Montelius Risberg, at uls_ordf@stud.slu.se

Before Graduation Day 2026
Attire
The attire for the graduation celebration is white tie. This means tailcoat with a white waistcoat, a full-length evening gown, or traditional national costume. For more detailed dress guidelines, see below.
Graduation Ring
Are you studying to become an agronomist, jägmästare, landscape architect, or landscape engineer and graduating this spring? Then it’s time to contact the goldsmith for your graduation ring! Our goldsmith, Stefan Carlsson, is located at Vretgränd 6. Opening hours are Tuesday to Thursday 09:30–17:00 and Friday 09:30–16:00. Orders will be accepted until April 24. Make sure to place your order in good time!
Kamratpub
A “Kamratpub,” previously called “ring verse pub,” is when fellow union members, classmates, and/or friends put together a verse or a PowerPoint presentation showcasing the graduate’s best memories, achievements, and similar moments from student life (nothing too inappropriate). The verse/presentation may be a maximum of 10 minutes long. This is organized by the student themselves and not by the union. The union and the traditions committee will only ensure that the union building and pub are open and that you can register for the event.
Ceremonial Verse
Exempel:
Does the tailcoat feel festive, or perhaps a bit tight?
Enjoy the moment – the evening is long!
We celebrate you with joy and with song,
In the spirit of tradition, as many times before.
Congratulations on your graduation
On Graduation Day
Graduation Ceremony
Graduation Day begins with graduates gathering at the union building beforehand for group photos. After this, everyone proceeds to the auditorium to line up for the procession. It is important to keep your assigned place in line and not move, to ensure the correct order when receiving your diploma and any rings. A keynote speaker usually participates to enhance the ceremony. About halfway through, there will be a coffee break with light refreshments. After the ceremony, we will leave the auditorium in the same procession order. Outside the auditorium, you will have a short time to meet your guests and take photos with your diploma. Three guests per graduate are guaranteed for the ceremony.
Ball and Dinner
After the ceremony, graduates and their guests proceed to the union building for a pre-dinner drink and to find their assigned seats for the ball, which will be posted on the notice board. Snap tickets will also be available for purchase. After the pre-drink, everyone moves to Syltan for dinner, speeches, and pleasant company. The evening concludes with dancing at the union building until sunrise.
Attire
The dress code for the ball is white tie. This means tailcoat with a white waistcoat, a full-length evening gown, or traditional national costume.
Tailcoat: Black tailcoat jacket and trousers. The tailcoat features silk facings and stripes on the trousers. The shirt, waistcoat, and bow tie must be white. Black patent leather shoes or well-polished black Oxford shoes are recommended. Black knee-high socks should be worn.
Evening gown: When choosing your gown, let the words magnificent and graceful guide you. The dress must be floor-length, but covering of arms, neckline, back, and shoulders is not required and may be left bare according to preference. Long gloves, a clutch bag, and a shawl are examples of permitted accessories. As there will be dancing during the evening, shoes that may become visible should cover the toes.
Academic orders and medals are welcome. Sashes for gowns are worn as a rosette on the left chest, and sashes for tailcoats are worn over the shirt, under the waistcoat, diagonally from the right shoulder.
